Who Impela is for

One coach, four doors. Impela works the same way for everyone: a coach that remembers you, follows up, and helps you keep your word. Where you start is up to you.

Find your door

Couples and partners

You and your partner — without giving up your privacy.

You each get your own coach, not one referee. What you tell yours is locked with your own key — your partner can’t read it, and neither can we. Your coaches help you build goals you both say yes to, put them into your week, and say the hard things well — you approve every word before your partner sees anything.

Invited by your partner? You join free — no card, no catch. You get your own account, your own coach, and your own private space. Nothing you say is shared unless you choose to share it, one thing at a time, and you can take it back.

Parents of teens (13–17)

Real support for your teen. A real safety net for you.

Your teen gets their own coach — for school, friendships, confidence, and following through — and it tells them plainly, over and over, that it’s AI, not a person and not a therapist. Their conversations are private: you can’t read them, and neither can we. That privacy is why a teen will actually open up — and it comes with a hard floor: if our safety system detects signs of serious trouble, you’re alerted right away, on every channel you set up.

You’ll see what your teen chooses to share — promises kept and missed — so you can back their effort without reading their diary. Your teen never sees a price, an ad, or a checkout. Ever. And they can only join because you invited them — a kid can’t sign up alone.

People with goals they keep restarting

You know what you want. You just don’t follow through — yet.

Impela remembers your goals, checks back in on its own, and turns talk into a plan you can see in your week. It keeps an honest score of what you actually did — not what you meant to do. Start free: your first conversations cost nothing.

Leaders and managers

Grow how you lead, not just what you get done.

The Leader add-on adds a 360° review — honest input from the people around you, next to how you see yourself — and coaching for real leadership moments: the hard conversation, the team that’s stuck, the choice you keep putting off.

You and a friend

Big goals go better with a witness.

Invite a friend, sibling, or accountability partner. They join free, keep their own private space, and can confirm the follow-through you’d rather not grade yourself.

How Impela is different from a chatbot

The interface looks like a chat. Underneath, it’s a different thing.

ChatGPT, Claude, Replika, Pi, and other AI chat tools are built to be helpful, agreeable, and pleasant. They answer almost any question you ask. They tell you your idea is interesting. They match the tone you bring. They forget most of what you said last week.

Coaching is a thinking partnership. Chatbots are answer machines. Different jobs.

Here’s what Impela does that a general-purpose chatbot doesn’t:

  • It remembers everything you’ve said, on purpose, and you can see it. Every conversation builds on every prior conversation. Patterns get noticed. Decisions get tracked. You can read what the system thinks it knows about you, and you can edit it.
  • It follows up. If you said you’d have a hard conversation by Friday, you’ll hear from Impela about it. A chatbot waits for you to come back. Impela comes to you.
  • It pushes back. When you’re avoiding something, looking for permission you don’t need, or asking the wrong question, Impela will say so. We’ve built it to be honest, even when that means being uncomfortable.
  • It has a method. Coaching is structured work — figure out what’s actually going on, identify what’s in the way, agree on a small number of next steps, follow through. Impela uses that approach. Chatbots don’t have one.
  • It’s not built to keep you hooked. Impela isn’t trying to maximize the time you spend in it. The goal is for you to get clearer, do the work, and need it less over time. That’s the opposite of how most AI products are designed.

How it’s different from therapy or advice

Therapy treats mental health conditions. A therapist is a licensed clinician — they can diagnose, they can treat, and they’re trained to handle things like depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, and crisis. Impela does none of that.

Advice is when someone tells you what to do based on what worked for them. Impela doesn’t do that. We don’t think we know your life better than you do, and we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all answers.

Impela does make recommendations — but they’re built from your situation. The people involved, what you’ve already tried, what you actually want, what you can and can’t change. Generic advice says “set better boundaries” or “have the hard conversation.” Coaching helps you figure out what to do this week, in your life, given everything else that’s going on. And it helps you figure out how to do it — in a way that fits your personality, your style, what you’re naturally good at. The next step has to fit your life. Not someone else’s.

Coaching is something else. It’s a structured way to think out loud with something that asks better questions than you’d ask yourself, points out things you’re missing, and holds you to what you said you’d do. The work is yours. Impela makes the work easier to do.

Impela is for you if

  • You have something in your life or work you want to change, and you’ve been stuck on it for a while.
  • You’re tired of AI that does your thinking for you and want one that makes you sharper.
  • You don’t want an AI that agrees with everything you say.
  • You’re willing to do the work. Coaching is not a quick fix.
  • You want a record of what you’ve worked through, what you’ve decided, and what you committed to. Sessions build on each other. Nothing gets forgotten.
  • You want something to follow up. To check in on the things you said mattered, even when you’d rather drop them.
  • You want to work on something with another person — a partner, your teen, a friend — without either of you giving up a private space.

It works whether the thing you’re stuck on is at home, at work, or somewhere in between. Most people use it across both.

Impela isn’t for you if

  • You’re in a mental health crisis. Stop reading this and go to the section below.
  • You’re managing a diagnosed mental health condition without a clinician. Impela isn’t a substitute for treatment. If you have a therapist, work with them. Impela can sit alongside that work. It can’t replace it.
  • You want a friend or a companion. Replika, Pi, and similar AI tools are designed for that. Impela isn’t. It’s there to do work with you, not to keep you company.
  • You want an AI that validates everything you say. Impela is built to push back when pushing back is what you need. If you want a tool that tells you you’re right, almost any other chatbot will do that better.
  • You’re under 13. Impela is for adults — and for teens 13–17, but only when a parent invites them and both agree to clear rules. There’s no way for a kid to sign up alone.

Bottom line

If you want a tool that takes you seriously, won’t lie to you, and treats your life like the complicated thing it is — that’s what we’re building.

If you want a chatbot, a friend, a therapist, or a place to vent without being challenged — we’re not it. There are good resources for those things and we’ll point you at them.
