What Impela will never do

Most AI is built to think for you. Impela is built to think with you.

That is a nice line. Lines are cheap. So here is the list you can hold us to. Each one is built into the code, not just written down. If we ever break one, you will be able to tell.

1. It never sends email in your name. If you connect Gmail, Impela writes drafts. You send them.
2. Nothing reaches another person unless you press send. Your coach has no way to email, text, invite, or post for you. It helps you draft. You decide what goes out.
3. It won’t read your coaching. Your conversations are locked with a key made from your password. Impela staff can’t open them either. One exception, said straight: a reminder’s name, cut to 80 characters, so a reminder can say what’s due.
4. Your key leaves when you do, if you want. Turn on “Sign me out when I close Impela” in Settings, and the key lasts only until you close your browser.
5. It won’t write its own opinion of someone in your life. The card for a person you talk about holds what you said about them, in your words. A line the coach made up about their motives or state of mind is dropped.
6. It won’t coach you through a crisis. It stops, shows real help, and asks you to reach a person. A fixed rule in code, not the AI’s judgment, catches clear statements. For three days after, reminders and marketing go quiet. How that works
7. It won’t nag you back into the app. A check-in is about a promise you made, not about showing up. Every reminder can be turned off in Settings, one at a time or all at once.
8. No ads, no trackers, no streak for showing up. The only streak Impela keeps is one you set yourself, for a habit you chose.

Why the list is short

We only list what the code already does. Some things we want to promise are not built yet, so they are not here. When one is built, it goes on the list. When one stops being true, it comes off. The page says what Impela does today, not what we hope it will do.
